PITTMOSS

During World War II, millions of Americans responded to the threat of wartime rationing by growing their own Victory Gardens.

Now, in these extraordinarily stressful pandemic times, with so many quarantined at home, we thought it might be the right time to take our grandparents’ example to heart and start growing our own food.

Together with our client PittMoss—the “Shark Tank” winning maker of the world’s most environmentally friendly alternative to peat-based potting soil—we had the idea to offer packets of seeds for carrots, tomatoes and lettuce with every purchase of their product.

Traditional peat-based potting soil is a carbon-intensive environmental catastrophe. Upcycled PittMoss, made from recycled paper is disrupting this old and (literally) dirty market.

After several TV segments and stories in influential online media, sales began to skyrocket. PittMoss’ year-over-year growth exploded in April, including:

  • 200% increase in revenue
  • Almost 500% increase in total online sales
  • Over 350% increase in units sold through all channels
  • More than doubled the units sold through amazon.com

By June, when so many other companies were still downsizing, PittMoss’ trajectory continued to rise:

  • Commercial sales grew 249%
  • Wholesale sales grew 205%
  • Retail sales grew 245%

Because of the success of our campaign, PittMoss enthusiastically extended our contract through the end of the year. Can you dig it?
